An Arabic calorie counter that knows Arab food

Last updated: September 29, 2026

In shortJISM is an Arabic-first calorie counter. You can write or speak to it in Egyptian, Gulf, Levantine or Modern Standard Arabic, and it recognizes the dishes Arab households actually eat, such as koshari, kabsa, mansaf, molokhia, mahshi and shawarma, then logs their calories and macros inside WhatsApp. It switches to English, or any other language, whenever you ask.

Why most trackers struggle with Arab food

Calorie databases are built mostly from packaged Western foods. A home-cooked Arab dish has no barcode, the same dish changes from one country to the next, and the words people use for portions ("a plate", "a loaf", "a ladle") do not map to grams. The result is either a missing dish or a number that is far from what was on the plate.

What JISM does differently

Beyond food

The same chat tracks water, workouts and weight, sets personal calorie and macro targets from your profile. The reasoning behind the targets is published in the guides, in Arabic and English.
